Hello with the fraser island tour you get 2 nights on fraser and 2 & 2 nights at hervey bay aswell or is it 2 nights at hervey bay and you go back to fraser the next day ? also self drive what if you dont have a drivers lisence?

Hello Brooke thanks for the message - you get 2 free nights at the Nomads Hervey Bay hostel and then 2 nights on Fraser Island at our permanent campsite (toliets and showers on site, no need to put up your own tent each day, wet weather rotunda in case of rain and BBQ cooking facilities) Most people have one free night at the hostel before they go to Fraser and then one free night at the hostel when they get back from the trip - but you can choose to have the 2 free nights before the trip or after - it is up to you. If you do book then you need to be at the hostel by 6.30pm at the latest the day before you travel - so that you can go to the briefing and meet your group. You need to have a full drivers license and be over 21 if you want to drive. It’s OK if you don’t have these - you can just travel as a passenger for the trip. It’s such a great place and the Nomads 4wh drive tour is just amazing!
Crossing around on the beach, windows down and let the fresh sea breeze come in.
Indian Heads, the Champagne Pools and Lake McKenzie are sooo cool. You’ll definitely have to check the photos!

We had an amazing time on Fraser Island! Kev, our tour guide, was great and showed us all the sights as well as encouraging full participation in all the activites (including drinking games). Kevin was able to fill us in alot on the history of the island and it was great to be able to hear first hand aboriginal stories from the native people! would encourage anyone to go. YOU will have a blast

We had an Amazing time on Fraser with Nomads it was Amazing. Everything is done and no pitching tents required ETC!! The night drinking is loads of fun, Brung loads of goon! Kevin our tour guide was a ledge and encouraged us all to take part which mad the trip even better! Cant recommend highly enough!! Love Nomads, Love Fraser Island! LOVE LOVE LOVE

An Action packed trip & very worthwhile lots of beautiful places to see and exciting things to do. Our guide Kurk was very enthusiastic and informative which made it even better. The camp site was very well organised in terms of Facilites for sleeping, eating, and DRINKING!! The only down part was the water was really cold so if you dont like it cold go in summer!

There’s 13 including you. Three Germans - all very reserved, quiet, and very beautiful. Four Irish - two of these being males named Ryan and Niall but for reasons unknown answer to ‘Jimmy’ and ‘Tiddles.’ Two long legged blonde beauties straight out of Oxford. One slick and smooth English guy. An endearing and chatty Dutch Girl. Your boyfriend . . . a quiet and reserved Canadian guy that along with you, hates tours. And then there’s you.You all enter the Fraser Island Tour debriefing the evening before departure. You watch everyone sneaking not-so-sneaky glances around the room. Two groups are formed, communal grocery lists are gently pondered, and then the serious conversation is had. Who is bringing what for alcohol. Friendships are made.It’s an early start the day of departure. Still nervous about being stuck with eleven individuals you don’t know and one individual that hates tours you sit very quietly. You are just starting to think that maybe this isn’t your scene when the heavens open up and Captain Kirk bounces his way to the front of the group. He is a large man with a pony tail that makes you jealous and a smile the size of Australia. He consistently says ‘Happy Days’ and ‘Too Easy’. Things are looking up. He gives you information about Fraser Island that enlightens you that Fraser Island is more than deadly sharks, water, and snakes. It is culture, traditions, and history. And you will learn that first hand by camping on land owned by the Batjala people of Fraser Island. Things are looking great.Each truck is loaded up with food, beverages, sleeping bags, backpacks, and 7 individuals. Captain Kirk assures you he will keep you all safe and gives us a run down on how to not crash the 4×4 as you drive behind him. The ferry ride is a short one as you begin to warm up to your new friends and you realise you’ve lucked out. You have chosen the good tour company.The beach is now your highway as you drive through sand, over tree roots, and through fresh water streams all with your windows down. It is true freedom. There is a massive turtle laying quietly on the beach by the ship wrecked Maheno and dingoes running alongside your vehicle on the sand. Whales slap the water not far out from where you are and washed up jelly fish lie around the beach.Captain Kirk tells you about the island’s history and proves to be a human version of google when it comes to topics like trees, Batjala traditions, and all the diverse flora and fauna of the island. You start to think about Fraser Island as more of a hands on history course. And then you see a brown snake and think of it as a Biologist’s heaven. Both are great reasons for this island to be a World Heritage Site.Lake Wabby blows your mind and leaves you spinning as you roll down the massive sand dune right into the water - sending cat fish scattering about. You visit the Maheno shipwreck where you get a group photo with your new found best friends and you watch the sea eagles finding their dinner. This is when you realise your hungry. The communal dinners are a blast as your new found best friends begin to seem more like few found family. Especially as you jeer eachother about who will do the dishes. Another group enters the camp and card games begin. Captain Kirk is keeping an eye on everyone and conversing with dingoes. Groups intermingle around the fire as toasted marshmellows and potato chips are passed around. Irish songs are belted out around the fire - ‘singing’ is too kind of a word for the noise that goes well into the early hours of the morning. Your tent fits eight people and sleeping bag wars and toe monsters ensue before sleep takes over during the massive sleep over.You wake up to a Batjala man walking around the camp with his traditional chop sticks and didgeroo. He sings you a welcome song that trumps the previous Irish songs and takes you for a walk to show you the hidden jewels of the aboriginal land. While he is a very funny man, he works hard to keep the Batjala culture alive and takes his job of passing on knowledge of the tribe, seriously. And also lets us know that where another tour group sleeps there is a six foot brown snake. By the end of your journey, on the third day you have swam in perched lakes, some with small turtles watching you the entire way, floated down a creek on your back, had water fights in Lake McKenzie, played frisbee at the champagne pools, watched mantarays, turtles, and dolphins from Indian Head, and looked over endless sand dunes. Your memory card is full and your heart is even more full. The three days went faster than you can say K’gari and you want to tell the world that Nomad Tours is the best way to discover Fraser Island.

 as an australian i had heard about fraser island and though i knew what to expect. i have to admit that fraser island far exceeded my expectations. the scenery was spectacular, i learned much more than i thought i would. the 4wd was lots of fun and the group experience was excellent. i would definately recomment the tour to anyone keen to see all fraser has to offer and looking for a fun, relaxed but professional tour.

Kevin: i have been to fraser island before but this time it was so much better. the tour is very complete and you get to see much more places in fraser rather than anywhere else. the camping is also very clean, organised and friendly. i met really nice people who i will stay in touch with for sure!!! great place, alot of fun and great people results in great fun. memories to keep with me 4 ever!

vijitna: my nomads fraser island experience began at a very early 6.45 morning start! kev was very cheerful and helped raise our spirits. arriving @ fraser island we were greeted by a beautiful island. beautiful sandy beaches; a chance to swim; a knowledgeable guide and a great group of people to share it with. the camp itself had hot water which was great to come back to after a day exploring the island. i particularly enjoyed lake birrubeen with its clear blue waters, indian head was another highlight revealing a little island history. an amazing trip and an experience ill never forget, an experience enhanced by a great guide.

victoria: couldnt have asked for a more amazing destination. highlights include floating down eli creek, swimming in a lake coloured with tea tree oil and standing on indian head over looking the ocean. for the most part i was barefoot for 3 days. even on the rainforrest floor there is soft sand. encounters with dingos, snakes, goannas and birds made fraser special as well as whale sighting and finding jelly fish washed up on the bank. lakes and streams with crystal clear waters and a sandy bottom were so sweet to swim in even if quite cold in september! you cant skip fraser island on a trip in australia and tag along tours are a great way to see the great variety of experiences the island has to offer. make sure to climb one of the strangler figs if your not fearful of broken limbs!! on your trip to fraser bring tons of sunscreen, energy and enthusiasm! - and goon! 

Fraser Island was an Amazing expierence and I would definately do it again! The scenery was incredible and the beaches were beautiful. Driving the jeeps was loads of fun! All in all awesome times!!!
